At these hearings, the Inquiry will hear:

Please note

  • The Tranche 2 (Phase 1) hearings will be held in line with the Inquiry’s ‘Hearings protocol’ and ‘Directions on the conduct of Tranche 2 (Phase 1) hearings’.
  • Registration for attendance at the IDRC has now closed. If you have not registered but attend the hearing venue you may not be able to join the hearings in person as there is a limit on capacity in the public gallery and some days are expected to be full.
  • Please arrive at the venue at least 30 minutes before the start of the session.
  • You will need to sign in and show photographic ID at the registration desk when you first arrive on each day. The registration desk is located in the IDRC reception via the door to Juxon House. A floorplan of the venue can be found in the ‘Attendee information pack’ (PDF, 219.0 KB).
  • Media representatives may be asked to present valid identification on arrival (media organisation staff pass, National Union of Journalists card, or a letter of accreditation from a media organisation).
  • There will be 38 seats at desks with power sockets in the public gallery. Additional seating is available but will not be at a desk. Free Wi-Fi will be available to all attendees.
  • Witness statements and evidence associated with a witness will be published on the Inquiry website as soon as they begin their oral evidence. Draft transcripts will be published as soon as possible after the hearing day has finished. Please note that only the materials published on the Inquiry’s website should be referenced in any reporting, as it will no longer be subject to a restriction order.
  • You can also follow proceedings remotely. There will be an audio-visual stream with a 10-minute delay on YouTube of evidence from witnesses who have not been granted special measures.
  • An audio-only stream with a 10-minute delay will replace the audio-visual stream for the oral evidence of former SDS officers with real name anonymity and some of the civilian witnesses with real name anonymity, at their request. Five officers who have real name anonymity, HN 19, HN 25, HN 56, HN 65 and HN 90, and two civilian witnesses, “Bea” and “Jenny” will only be heard and their image will not be broadcast. In addition, “Jenny’s” voice will be modulated.
  • Following special measure applications, Francis Bennet, Hilary Moore, “Bea” and “Jenny” will give their evidence remotely via video link.
  • Links to the live streams and any associated publications will be available on the respective hearing pages.
  • The IDRC is easily accessible by public transport, with mainline stations such as Blackfriars and City Thameslink within 5-10 minutes walk and St. Paul’s Underground Station within a 2-minute walk. Car parking facilities are available near the location.
  • Further details about the hearings can be found in the following press notice: ‘Undercover Policing Inquiry’s Tranche 2 (Phase 1) hearings start Monday‘.
