A hearing to receive oral submissions on privacy issues is scheduled for 25 March 2019. This is subject to confirmation by the Royal Courts of Justice. Details are below.

Second privacy hearing

On 31 January 2019 the Inquiry held a hearing to review its approach to privacy. A transcript from the day is available.

At that hearing it was agreed that there should be a further hearing to consider:

  • the extent to which Articles 13, 14 and 15 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 – also referred to as the General Data Protection Regulation – apply to the work of the Inquiry; and
  • the practical effect of any resulting obligations.

Direction and date of hearing

A direction was issued.

On 26 February 2019 a note regarding the Inquiry’s evidence hearing process was also issued. This was to help inform submissions. Submissions were published on the Inquiry website on 12 March 2019.

A hearing at which oral submissions on this topic may be made is scheduled to take place on 25 March 2019, at the Royal Courts of Justice.
